“YOU SHOULD SIT IN MEDITATION FOR 20MIN A DAY. UNLESS YOU’RE TOO BUSY. THEN YOU SHOULD SIT ONE HOUR.” – ZEN SAYING

Meditation is all the rage in the media these days. Big names like Gisele Bundchen, Russell Brand,  and Lady Gaga all speak openly about the power of meditation in their lives. And the queen of inspiration herself, Oprah Winfrey, has been creating 21-day meditation experiences with Deepak Chopra for years.

Meditation centers have been opening up in major cities.

Countless apps now exist to aid people on their meditation journeys.

And I’ll bet that whenever it comes up in conversation at a cocktail party that someone will say “I really should get into meditation.”

Thousands of people are getting into it every day. I bet you’re one of those people. Perhaps you already have a meditation practice and you tend to feel that it’s less than ideal. Hopefully, by the end of this episode, you’ll feel inspired to get back into it and stick to a style that you’re excited about.

We often talk about meditation as being a necessary way to unplug from the modern world, but it’s a practice that’s been around for over 5,000 years. And will most likely be around for just as long…that is if we don’t destroy our planet before then.

So let’s dive in.

IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:

  • Different styles of meditation such that you can choose the one that’s best for you;
  • The 3 main things holding you back from creating, and STICKING, to a meditation practice;
  • How to bring meditation into everyday situations. You don’t even have to sit! But I’ll strongly encourage you to do so as well.
  • How you can create a meditation practice that works for you
  • I’ll even guide you through a short Grounding Meditation which you can find here too!

TAKEAWAYS

Meditation will not only help you live longer, but it will also help you live DEEPER.

ACTION CHALLENGE!

Choose ONE meditation practice and stick to it for a minimum of 21-days to experience it’s benefits.

  • Choose ONE kind
  • Create your own “rules” around the experience: i.e. start & end date (although you’ll most likely not want to stop), how you’ll celebrate, etc.
  • Decide when & where you’ll meditate *this is SO important to avoid pitfalls! Ideally at same time, in the AM is best.
  • Sit comfortably…lying down will lead to falling asleep
  • Keep your spine long.
  • Focus on the breath.
  • Enjoy your experience!
